Pau Batlle Vilanova, Aqualia'a R+D esearcher, receives the award for the best doctoral thesis on technologies for capture, transport, storage and use of CO2, framed in the Smart Green Gas Project

The 4th edition of the PTECO2 Awards, held on 12th of December of 2017, has awarded the prize for the best doctoral thesis to Pau Batlle Vilanova, researcher of Aqualia in the Smart Green Gas Project.

The thesis, presented under the title "Bioelectrochemical transformation of carbon dioxide to target compounds through microbial electrosynthesis", investigates the use of bioelectrochemical systems to produce compounds of industrial interest from CO2.

The results show the feasibility of recover CO2 in order to obtain biofuels that can be used in vehicles or injected into the gas network, as well as products of high added value for its use as raw material in the food and pharma industry.
