On behalf of the H2020 INCOVER project (Innovative Eco-Technologies for Resource Recovery from Wastewater), led by Aqualia, a Stakeholder Dialogue Workshop on "Upgrading biogas from wastewater to bio-methane: Economic perspectives on a sustainable source of energy" will take place in Freiburg, Germany on 25th October 2018 from 16:30 - 18:00h [CEST].

The workshop aims to bring together a group of experts from academia, water utilities and energy associations to jointly investigate how wastewater utilities producing biogas and upgrading it to bio-methane can best leverage its benefits and use it to close local value chains, while at the same time, addressing the important question of economic and financial viability. Furthermore, various alternatives for the use of the bio-methane will be explore along with their respective opportunities and barriers. Two particular uses that will be looked: injection into the grid, and use as fuel in the transport sector (particularly for public fleets).

The outcomes of the workshop will feed into the formulation of commercial strategies and business models for the exploitation of bio-methane generated by the technologies developed in the INCOVER project.

The INCOVER project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 689242.
