The LIFE Methamorphosis Consortium meets with the responsible for monitoring project implementation and visit the METHAGRO prototype in Vila-sana, Lleida

On 28th of June, the LIFE Methamorphosis project Consortium led by Aqualia and formed by FCC Environment, Naturgy, SEAT, ICAEN and AMB, meet to assess the status and progress of the project's actions.

The meeting was attended by the person responsible for monitor the project implementation, who is part of the NEEMO team, an entity that aims to help the consortiums of projects financed by the LIFE Programme to make the best use of resources and, at the same time, to provide local experience and knowledge.

The day ended with a visit to the METHAGRO prototype, built and managed by Naturgy, located on the Porgaporcs farm in Vila-sana, Lleida. The aim of this technology is to treat the biogas produced in the anaerobic digestion of slurry from the plant and the organic matter coming from agroindustrial reject in the area using membrane technology. The membranes separate the CO2 from the methane to obtain a CH4 enriched gas. The membranes require the input gas to be pretreated for the removal of moisture and pollutants such as H2S, Siloxanes and VOCs. The biomethane produced at the upgrading plant is compliant with the EN-16726, EN16723-1, FbrEN16723-2 and DIN 51624 standards for gas used in motor vehicles.
